table to tummy

In the months before our wedding, if someone told me the amount of time I would happily be spending in the kitchen after our wedding, I would have choked on my drink. No kidding, I did not like cooking / baking / being-in-the-kitchen-for-anything-else-than-sneaking-snacks.

These days, I'm a real life thrifty domestic goddess cooking queen (that's a RLTDGCQ, if it's easier). Suddenly the pressure is off, I'm in my own space, I get to try my own thing, and Will is an adventurous, and forgiving, eater.

Last week I chopped up the herbs from our wedding reception and made tabouli from scratch. And oh it was good.

From the table...

our lazy sunday

Hidden away in the middle of our suburb is an endless grassy field, perfect for lazy afternoon getaways.

Blue skies, polkadot picnic rugs and a good book. That's all we need.

There's really something magical about green grass and sunshine - so good for the soul.

Camping at Noosa Northshore

We went camping last weekend to celebrate six months of marriage and soak up the perfect autumn weather. Someone saw the sunrise for the first time in a very long time. She also passed the 'practical assessment' to officially call herself a Swanson. We fried up bananas in bacon fat, spent the afternoons reading and wandering down the beach, and relaxed to the sweet, sweet sounds of Bob Marley and crashing ocean waves.

Also, we saw a bandicoot (not pictured, sorry).

Will soaked up the sunshine with a fishing rod in his hand. I soaked up the sunshine pretending I could do yoga and watching the world pass by upside down.

It was a blissful, sandy, full-of-sunshine weekend.

the next chapter...

Huzzah!

There are still a few more hoops to jump through before we can confirm and share all the details, but we are very excited to be following our hearts, and following our hearts together!

May the 4th

When our two year anniversary, news of an exciting opportunity, the beginning of a long weekend AND the International Star Wars Day all fell on the same day, we just had to celebrate. We made the most of our Friday night with a deliciously scrumptious meal at Popolo.

We sat looking out over the river, listening to live music on the shore and eating a feast. A scrummy antipasti plate. A shared suckling pig dish. Asparagus and parmesan. Strawberry canoli with sweet basil icecream and balsamic. A delish icecream and pistachio praline with lemon biscotti.

Woah. Woah. We don't usually love Italian but this place was ah-maz-ing.

And now a little walk down memory lane...

I happened to find a couple of photos from May 5, 2010. Will asked me out on May 4 2010, in the very early hours of the morning and after a lovely dinner date with friends.

The following day he whisked me up Mt Glorious for a picnic in the sunshine. I remember asking him if he had ever broken a bone or had any serious illnesses. I was in the 'I-want-to-know-as-much-about-you-as-soon-as-humanly-possible' stage. In hindsight, what romantic questions to ask on one's last first date ;)
