Our first Christmas Eve

I went a little snap happy on Christmas Eve, but it was our first as husband and wife and I'm so glad I captured a few of the special moments.

We ate pancakes on our front deck, listened to the rain come down, spent about an hour in a very cool kid's store, did our supermarket shopping, moved some furniture around, ate corn chips and discussed a fun business idea with PC, finished painting our DIY chalkboard, returned to the front deck to eat cheese, watched thousands of bats fly over, lit candles and exchanged Christmas gifts, listened to Christmas carols, cooked Tom Yum, chilled out to Modern Family and baked some special red velvet Santa Hat cupcakes.

It really was the best Christmas Eve ever.

Last Friday night at Ikea

Have you discovered the joy of shopping at Ikea at night time? It has revolutionised our world. We parked in the closest non-disabled/parents carpark to the main entrance, we strolled leisurely through the top floor without the crowds and the screaming children, we got dinner for free AND we came home with lots of goodies.

A word of warning though - night time shopping at Ikea will diminish your bank account. Everything looks more pretty / useful / needed / stylish / functional when you don't have to peep at it from behind a crowd of people!

Milk Cafe

Three cheers for lazy Saturday mornings. Absolute bliss. We only roused ourselves out of the house with the promise of breakfast/brunch/lunch at our 'local' - Milk Cafe. This old-time style milk bar does delicious coconut milkshakes, serves a mean BLT and burgers and is so darn charming you almost expect the waiters to serve you on rollerblades.

Here's to Saturday morning dates, a good milkshake and hanging out with my husband!

In case you missed it, we got married! And then had the time of our lives in glorious New Zealand. Now we are husband and wife, and that is the best thing ever.
