april snapshots

Little bits and pieces from the month that's almost gone...

We spent a day in costume filming silly videos for our work. There is something hilarious about seeing a 6'5 Sudanese man in a Flintstones outfit and mullet wig, I only wish we'd got a photo.

We also left home at 7am on Sunday for a rehearsal before morning church. A feat worth photographing given we get up no earlier than 8am on weekdays.

Aneela and Jeremy got married and their wedding was just delightful. We have a new sister and she's gorgeous and we will be talking about that delicious beef for many many years (more photos to come later!).

Family time. Uncle Will in his element. Thank you Paul and Lauren for making such sweet little people.

Our new, less-expensive habit is to bring in a homemade lunch and then get coffees together after. Working on the same street is a gem. And getting stuck in dreadful traffic is made so much sweeter when we're getting stuck in dreadful traffic together.

A perfect piece of art for Smurf Haus that is begging us to buy it.

Hello French cooking in the slow cooker. Hello leftovers for lunch.

Copious study notes and nervous phone conversations. Fingers crossed.

And five months in and (some of) our wedding herbs are still alive. We're way too proud. And a Saturday brunch with these beauties always makes me smile.

#uralla12

Easter long weekends are the best because of a special tradition my parents and their friends began 18 years ago. Half of them travel down from Brisbane / Gold Coast, and half of them travel up from Sydney, and they meet at the halfway point - a lovely couple's house in Uralla. Every second year since 1994, we've spent Easter with our Sydney / Brisbane / Uralla friends, and every single time it's been wonderful. See here, here and here for photos from Uralla 2010.

We usually all stay at Carol and Stephen's house (above), but due to our growing group, Will, Jeremy, Kate and I stayed at a gorgeous B&B called Aurelia's Farm (below). The view of the country side was amazing, the house itself was beautifully presented, and our hosts Tara and Andrew truly spoilt us with homemade nougat, fresh banana bread and loving cuddles from their cat Max.

Holiday time is special time, and even more so when it's out in the country, under a big blue sky. I went a little crazy with the photos (and the instaspam - oops!), but how could you not when this country of ours is just so spectacular?

family time

A Hen's weekend, a Buck's Weekend, a girls coffee date and a roast dinner.
We've been getting some good Swanson family time in!

Last night we got a call from the nearly-weds to come around to their house (just 2kms from us) so the boys could check their suits. We grabbed Will's suit, jumped in the car and drove around to visit. Only when we got there, no one was home. I even threw a shoe through their locked front porch to bang on the door, and no one answered.

"Why would they go out when they knew we were coming round?" we asked.

So we jumped back in our car and drove back to our little Smurf Haus to find one J + A sitting on our front deck asking "Why would they go out when they knew we were coming round?"

A hilarious mis-communication.

Also, the shoe I threw at their door had their key to unlock the locked porch and get inside. Oops!

And lastly, if anyone knows how to make a crocheted swan doilie, please speak up. We were too chicken good to steal it, but doesn't every Swanson girl need a crocheted swan doilie?
